Vaccines now form an integral part of ones personal life long health & well-being, from infancy, to adolescent through to adulthood and old age.

BEXSERO, a vaccine to help protect against meningococcal B disease, is now funded on the National Immunisation Schedule, from 1 March 2023, for:

  • Infants at 3 months, 5 months and 12 months
    • For earlier protection, an alternative schedule is funded for infants at 2 months, 4 months and 12 months
  • Adolescents aged 13-25 who are entering within the next 3 months, or are in their first year of close-living

A BEXSERO catch-up programme is funded for:

  • All children under 5 years of age (until 31 August 2025)
  • Adolescents aged 13-25 years currently in their first year of a specified close living situation or who will be moving into communal accommodation within the next three months

SUMMARY

1/ Influenza: for all ‘at risk ‘ including children 3-12 yr & age  65 years

2/ MMR if unsure of status for adults, born on/after 1 January 1969, who have not completed a two dose course of MMR vaccine.

3/ Varicella: one dose for children at 15 months or age 11 , Herpes Zoster (Shingles at age 65 yr only)

4/ TdaP : Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis at ages 11, from age 45 (only if you received fewer than 4 in your lifetime) , and from 65 year (if it has been more than 10 years since the previous dose of Td or TdaP)

5/ HPV Gardasil age 9 to 26 year (age 27- 45 year male + female recommended but unfunded)

6/ Meningococcal ACWY: adolescents and young adults aged 13–25 years inclusive who will be living or are currently living in a boarding school hostel or university hall of residence, military barracks or prison
